Update with fixes and some new-ish stuff


Alright so, basically this update should improve performance a tiny bit, fix some bugs, and change how the baron of hell's swipe attacks work. I'll bullet point everything important below.

  • Baron of Hell now shoots 3 projectiles per one-handed swipe, in an auto-trajectory-centering line like the cacodemon's attack. Ball damage from 14d4 -> 9d4 per ball. Basically the same damage, but spread out more. This should help to make its attacks a bit less... omni-directional.
  • New option in menu to remove quake effects, near the options to remove zoom and pitch/angle effects. Helps with motion sickness and/or looking vanilla.
  • Fixed a bug that made shotgun/SSG damage not work entirely correctly when tracers were off. Basically the randomness was being applied wrong, leading to banding in damage output instead of a smooth distribution. My bad.
  • Fixed a bug with ambush ("deaf") monsters going into fear when not awake yet but standing still while doing so.
  • Fixed an issue where chain-attacks could chain onto dead targets.
  • Numerous other tiny fixes that would be way too minor to explain here.
  • Changed how the monsters-only mod works under the hood to make it easier to update. Shouldn't have caused huge changes, but you may want to tweak sliders if you use it.

Now for the other big stuff.

  1. Addons are now possible, and I've included a few examples for download. If you unzip the full ProjectBabel+ pk3, you'll find a text file outlining the stuff I've exposed to Decorate and what it does. It's mostly there so that people can make compatibility patches or reskins more easily, but you could probably also make whole new monsters/weapons if you were really nuts. Included addons/patches are:
    1. A compatibility patch for Doom Zero
    2. A compatibility patch for Ancient Aliens (pulse rifle flash frames courtesy of an anon who was doing the same thing)
    3. A compatibility patch for Ancient Aliens, but for the monsters only version
    4. An example reskin/minimod that changes the pulse rifle to look like the classic plasma rifle from Doom. Gameplay-wise it's identical to the pulse rifle.
  2. There is also a weapons only mod. Someone asked for this. Yes one person. I made it because of that. Is it stable? Probably. If combined with a mod that uses weird +ISMONSTER flagging the BFG might act strangely, but aside from that I couldn't get it to crash at all.
